The Lands Surrounding Pavel
The village of Pavel Town sits at the heart of a vast and varied realm, surrounded by ancient forests that stretch in every direction. To those who know where to look, pathways wind through these woods to distant lands and settlements.
Hidden within the Misty Forest, where the trees grow tall and the fog never truly lifts, wander the Nomads of the Ninja and Elven. Living lightly upon the land, these elusive peoples move silently between moss-covered paths. The ninjas guard forgotten routes and secrets, while the elves tend the forest’s magic, ensuring outsiders only pass when deemed worthy.
To the Northeast, beyond the clouds themselves, floats the mystical Lost Dragon Town. This ethereal city hovers in the sky, home to ancient dragons who have lived for centuries. On clear nights, villagers can sometimes see its lights twinkling among the stars.
To the West stand the imposing walls of the Ork Fortress, built from dark stone in the Westlands. Though fearsome in appearance, the orcs have found common ground with Pavel's people over their mutual appreciation for strong drink and stronger stories.
To the Southeast lie the Monk Monasteries, peaceful sanctuaries where monks dedicate their lives to meditation, study, and—when the mood strikes—the occasional pilgrimage to Pavel's famous tavern.
To the Southwest, shrouded in perpetual mist, are the High Dwarvish Mountains and their cloudy forests. The dwarves dwelling here are master craftsmen, and their ales are said to be second only to Pavel's own.
But between Pavel and safety lie the Swamps—a treacherous expanse of murky water and twisted trees. Here, trolls lurk in the shadows, emerging to raid the village under cover of darkness. Many heroes have ventured into the swamps seeking to end the threat, but the mist keeps its secrets well.
The Village of Ale and Fellowship
In the heart of a realm where ancient forests whisper forgotten secrets, there lies the village of Pavel—a humble settlement of five thousand souls, all united by one simple truth: there is no problem that cannot be solved with good company and a cold mug of ale.
King Antony - The Peaceful King
At the center of this peculiar kingdom sits King Antony, a ruler unlike any other. While neighboring monarchs concern themselves with conquest and coin, Antony has but two ambitions: to keep his village peaceful and his tankard full. You'll find him most evenings at the tavern's corner table, laughing heartily and buying rounds for travelers, believing that a kingdom held together by friendship and beer is stronger than any held by the sword. His crown sits askew on his head, and his royal robes are often stained with ale, but his people love him for it. "A happy village is a peaceful village," he often declares, raising his mug high.
Old Nick the Geezer - Keeper of Tales
Every night, as the fire crackles and the ale flows, Old Nick the Geezer takes his seat by the hearth. With a voice weathered by a hundred winters, he weaves tales for all who will listen—stories of the days when the forests were deeper and the monsters bolder, when heroes walked among them and magic still lingered in the morning mist. The villagers gather around him like moths to flame, for Nick's stories are the living memory of Pavel itself. Some say he's been telling tales since the village was founded; others claim he's simply too stubborn to let death interrupt a good story.
Panchonco & Yuumi - The Eternal Patron
And there, propped against the bar as if he were part of the furniture, you'll always find Panchonco. Day or night, rain or shine, this eternal patron haunts the pub with his faithful cat Yuumi perched on his shoulder, both swaying gently to some unheard rhythm. His coin purse may empty and refill with the seasons, but his stool never stays vacant for long. Yuumi, a gray tabby with knowing eyes, seems to be the only creature who truly understands Panchonco's slurred philosophy. Some say he's been drinking since before King Antony was born; others swear they've never seen him sober enough to confirm. The barkeep simply keeps his tab running and his mug full.
The Visitors
Pavel's fame has spread across the realm, drawing visitors from the strangest corners of the world. Dragons descend from the cloud-wreathed Lost Dragon Town, folding their great wings to squeeze through the pub's door. Orcs march down from their Fortress, their war cries replaced with drinking songs. Monks journey from their Monasteries, finding that enlightenment tastes remarkably like honey mead. Even the reclusive Dwarves emerge from the misty mountains, drawn by rumors of the finest brews this side of the realm.
The Threat
But not all is merriment in Pavel. Beyond the village, past the protective embrace of the ancient woods, the land grows dark and treacherous. In the Swamps lurk trolls—brutal, cunning creatures who hide in the mire and strike without warning. Their raids are swift and merciless, leaving burning homes and grieving families in their wake. Many brave souls have ventured into those cursed marshes to end the threat, but few return, and those who do speak in whispers of what dwells in the deepest shadows.
Legendary Warriors Seeking Glory
Ten legendary heroes have answered King Antony's call. Each possesses unique abilities and carries their own burdens, hopes, and secrets. These are their stories...
Soul: Dark • Affinity: Shadows
A mysterious figure who finds fascination in observing others. The Dark Stalker's interest lies in following people and learning everything about their lives—their habits, their secrets, their fears. Some say he knows more about the villagers than they know about themselves.
⚡ PASSIVE: Shadow Control
3 times per game, force another player to meditate (skip their turn)
Soul: Tech • Affinity: Machinery
Created by wise mages a century ago, this mechanical marvel was designed to assist with everyday village work. Though lacking in social graces, the Friendly AI's analytical mind and tireless nature make it an invaluable ally in solving complex problems.
⚡ PASSIVE: System Override
Once per game, you can attempt a challenge using a different attribute than required
Soul: Stone • Affinity: Mountains
A stout warrior from the misty mountains, built like the stone itself. Though slow-moving, his incredible strength and unwavering determination make him a formidable presence in any challenge.
⚡ PASSIVE: Stone Skin
For every fail, keep 1 stat point you spent (returned to that same attribute)
Soul: Crowd • Affinity: Social
A silver-tongued charmer who wants nothing more than to befriend everyone and maintain good relations with everybody. The Babbler Rogue can talk their way out of (or into) any situation, making allies wherever they go.
⚡ PASSIVE: Crowd Favorite
Gain +1 Glory for every 3 challenges you complete
Soul: Magic • Affinity: Mystical
In retirement for the last ten years, this wise mage seeks only peace and quiet. Though reluctant to return to adventure, their vast magical knowledge and powerful spells remain undiminished by time.
⚡ PASSIVE: Arcane Alliance
Once per game, borrow stat points from another player to help you in a challenge
Soul: Shadow • Affinity: Stealth
A hired blade who takes on missions for coin. Though they weren't quite good enough to join the elite assassin guilds, the Shadow Ninja's speed and agility still make them a dangerous opponent in the right circumstances.
⚡ PASSIVE: Double Strike
Spend SPD twice as effectively (every 1 SPD counts as 2)
Soul: Sky • Affinity: Flight
Years ago, this dragon lost its way from the floating Dragon Town and has been trying to find the path back home ever since. Powerful but melancholic, the Lost Dragon carries the weight of displacement and an unrelenting homesickness.
⚡ PASSIVE: Dragon Rage
When spending 5+ on any stat, gain +3 bonus
Soul: Pub • Affinity: Taverns
A veteran warrior who fought orcs countless times in brutal campaigns. Now tired of battle, he spends all day drinking, trying to drown the memories of war. Despite his constant inebriation, his combat experience and unwavering resolve occasionally shine through.
⚡ PASSIVE: Liquid Courage
Once per turn, roll a dice. If 5 or 6, automatically win the challenge
Soul: Silent • Affinity: Meditation
This silent monk visited Pavel from the southeastern monasteries, bringing sacred wine as a gift. Having taken a vow of silence, the Mute Monk communicates through gestures and expressions, yet possesses profound wisdom and mental discipline.
⚡ PASSIVE: Inner Peace
Meditating restores +4 to one attribute of your choice (instead of no benefit)
Soul: Undead • Affinity: Darkness
This undead wanderer roams the realm in an eternal search for true love. Though death has claimed his body, his heart still yearns. Incredibly strong and nearly unstoppable, the Lover Zombie approaches each new encounter with tragic hope that this might be the one.
⚡ PASSIVE: Undead Hunger
Gain +1 to POW every time you complete a challenge
How to Claim Victory in the Missions
The Setup: As another night falls upon Pavel, ten legendary heroes gather at the tavern—each with their own unique abilities and soul affinities. From these ten, you and your companions will select your champions. Tonight, King Antony has announced a grand competition: a series of challenges, or Missions, with a grand prize awaiting those who prove themselves most worthy. The heroes must pass through these trials, testing their strength, speed, intellect, charisma, and willpower to claim victory and glory.
Objective: Guide your chosen hero through the Missions, accumulating the highest Glory score by successfully completing challenges. The hero with the most Glory when all Missions are complete wins the grand prize.
Core Mechanics:
1. Turn Structure: Draw a challenge. The player to your left tells you the difficulty of this challenge (Minor = 1 Glory, Deadly = 2 Glory). Each challenge has a required stat (POW, SPD, BRN, CHA, or WIL). You must decide how to approach this challenge.
2. Resource Management: You have five attributes (POW, SPD, BRN, CHA, WIL), each starting between 1-9 points depending on your hero. To overcome a challenge, you must spend attribute points matching or exceeding the target number. Spent points are consumed and do not regenerate automatically.
3. Soul-Type Advantage: If your hero's Soul-Type (Physical, Mental, Mystical, Social, Psychic) matches the challenge's affinity, you receive a +3 automatic bonus toward the target. This can make otherwise impossible challenges achievable.
4. Decision Options: Each turn, you have three choices:
• Do the Challenge: Spend attribute points to meet the target and claim Glory.
• Pass (Meditation): Skip the challenge without penalty. You have exactly 3 Meditations for the entire game—use them wisely on impossible or inefficient challenges.
• Challenge a Friend: Engage in a competitive dual challenge with another player. Both invest attribute points. Outcomes: both succeed (both gain Glory), one succeeds (solo winner gains bonus Glory), or both fail (no Glory). Strategic for difficult challenges or when attributes are scarce.
5. Pass and Play: When you finish your turn, pass the mobile to the player next to you.
6. Recovery System: Every 5 challenges, visit the Alchemist to restore 5 total points distributed across your attributes. This is your primary resource regeneration—plan accordingly.
7. Victory Condition: After all Missions are completed, the hero with the highest accumulated Glory is declared the victor and claims the prize.
Strategic Considerations: Balance immediate Glory gains against long-term resource sustainability. Identify which challenges favor your Soul-Type. Conserve Meditations for truly impossible trials. Use "Challenge a Friend" to split difficult challenges or eliminate competition.
